Andrew Sanderson (centre) with wife Susan and son Robert at the handing over of the 3,000th Jaguar to be sold in the UK and Ireland.

2023 not only marks the 50th anniversary of the Class Jaguar forage harvester, it has also seen the 3,000th unit from Claas UK arrive on farm.

Contractors W J Sanderson & Sons purchased the Jaguar 880, which arrived with a special 3,000th edition wrap. It was presented to the company at a presentation at the UK headquarters in Saxham, alongside a 1/32 scale model with the same wrap.

W J Sanderson & Sons operates near Preston and was established in 1952. Today, it is run by Andrew and William Sanderson. The 880, which was purchased through Rickerby, is the 12th Claas Jaguar used by the company since the 1980s when they purchased a second-hand 682.

“We feel like we are part of the family somehow, that we as customers really matter and our relationship with Rickerby feels like we are part of the larger family,” said Andrew. “The backup is superb as is the parts availability, to help keep us moving in the field as quickly as possible.

“The latest machine has come with improvements to the cab, with the new armrest and joystick, both of which I find really easy to use. I’m also impressed by how quiet the cab is. We have also had Premium Line wear liners fitted to our last couple of machines which have lasted really well and I wouldn’t think of not having it now as it helps keep the machine’s running costs down.”
