Following the announcement that March registrations were more in line with the seasonal average, the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) has released regional and power data for the first quarter.
Looking at the first quarter of 2026, all but the highest and lowest powered machines saw a boost in registrations. Tractors from 51-100hp dropped 14.1% to 201 units, compared to the same period last year, while tractors above 320hp fell 14.8% to 75 machines.
Every other power bracket saw increases, with 101-120hp machines jumping 78.9% to 306 units, and 241-320hp increasing by 87.1% to 305 machines.
Growth was also apparent regionally, with all but the East Midlands (which fell 3.5%) and the South East & Channel Islands (no change year to year) registering increases. Registrations were generally better in areas that were livestock focused, including the North of England, Wales and Scotland.
Northern Ireland saw the biggest increase, more than doubling the number of tractors from 121 in the first quarter of 2025 to 247 this year.
