Kuhn introduces new flagship trailed mower

Initially launched at Agritechnica, Kuhn has introduced the new FC 13460 RA trailed mower conditioner, offering a working width of between 12.4m and 13.4m, while also featuring the well-known Lift-Control and the OptiDisc Elite cutterbar.

Grassland product marketing specialist, Rhodri Jenkins, says the increased output from running a wider width should be a key consideration for users this season. “The FC 13460 RA offers significantly higher output from a single machine handling large areas and operators can expect a 25-30% wider cut on each pass than a mounted triple mower combination. Added up over a single season, the savings in fuel, labour and time are considerable.”

Each of the cutterbars is fitted with 12 discs, offering an improved crop flow and knife overlap. To save time on maintenance, the Fast-Fit quick knife system is standard. As the space between the discs has been increased, crop flow is improved towards the rear of the mower.

Ground pressure is kept consistent thanks to the Lift-Control suspension system, which spreads the weight of the mower between the tractor drawbar and the mower’s axle, with flotation tyres equipped as standard to further reduce soil pressure.

“Lift-Control allows users to change bed pressures to suit the conditions, helping to protect swards and prevent damage to the mowers, which is especially useful in wetter conditions. Operators can also adjust the pressures to suit field undulations to ensure an even cut and maintain forage quality,” explained Rhodri.

As an option, the FC 13460 RA can be equipped with a belt grouper, grouping the 13m cut width into a swath between 1.8m and 3m wide. It’s also fully ISOBUS compatible and be purchased alongside Kuhn’s series of terminals and the CCI A3 30-function joystick. Through the ISOBUS screens, users can also benefit from independent section control.
