HE-VA to introduce new disc drill for grass, grain and covers

Responding to market demand, HE-VA has introduced the 3m G-Drill, designed to be a straightforward solution for establishing grass, grain and cover crops.

It features two rows of 400mm Vector scalloped discs, followed by replaceable coulter boots, which run at a 4deg angle to create a narrow seed slot.

Up to 32 coulters can be specified for row spacings of 9.4cm, and there is a 24 row option for 12.5cm spacings.

Metering is handled by a Stocks Ag Turbo Jet system, with either 400 litres or 1,000 litres of capacity. Twin brushless 12v electric fans provide an adjustable airflow, and there is the option of the recently launched hydraulic fan.

Each row has individual rubber dampening, said to provide accurate contour following and consistent seed depth. It also enables the disc to move out of the way of obstacles to minimise the risk of damage.

At the back of the machine is a 450/500mm diameter Star Ring roller – seen across the company’s range of grassland equipment. This breaks up clods in cultivated ground and closes the seed slot.

A 600mm diameter flat roller is also available. The options list also includes shattaboard levelling paddles and a following harrow.

“HE-VA’s grassland offering has seen significant growth over recent years, providing livestock farmers with a comprehensive range of machines to help improve productivity and increase grass yields,” says HE-VA product specialist Glenn Bootman, who works for the UK importer Opico.

“Whether choosing the arable or grassland specification, we are confident in the G-Drill’s performance and reliability. Utilising a configuration of proven parts which have been tried and tested across the HE-VA portfolio for many years, operators can be confident in its versatility and reliability.”

The G-Drill will be shown to the public at Lamma.
