New Spread-a-Bale machine wins Bronze Lamma Award

The Combi-Bale, the latest system from Spread-a-Bale, has been awarded a Bronze Award in the Machine of the Year Category at Lamma.

It’s a dual-function machine, with a side-mounted design, which the company states will streamline operations on livestock farms.

A single horizontal rotor features newly designed bladed-edge tines, while the new diverter valve and dual-speed motor control the direction. When working anti-clockwise, the machine feeds out haylage or silage directly into the feed troughs or into a mixer wagon.

When spinning clockwise, the rotor can throw straw up to 15m.

The hood and crop roller system have undergone a redesign, increasing power by up to 46% and efficiency by 27%, according to Spread-a-Bale.

The Combi-Bale is available in Mini, Midi, Midi XL, Maxi and Maxi XL body sizes, as well as on a trailed chassis for the Midi size and upwards.

“Spread-a-Bale is thrilled to once again feature among Lamma’s prestigious Innovation Awards, this time to secure the Machine of the Year Bronze Award,” comments chief executive, Michael Hughes.

“The Combi-Bale’s two-in-one system marks further significant progress in our range of bespoke machines, enabling farmers to make cost savings and improve their overall efficiency; the machine will not only save time and labour, but also financial outlay.”
