Amazone introduces knife roller front tool for the Cirrus 6003-2

A new front tool has been made available for the Cirrus 6003-2 folding trailed cultivator drill. The knife roller features an enclosed roller core with a chevron knife arrangement and is said to offer additional crumbling on cloddy soils and ensures the intensive shredding of surface crop residues.

Catch crops and tall stubble are chopped at right angles to the direction of travel. Another advantage, according to the company, is the reduction of passes in the field, as well as preserving soil structure, conserving essential soil moisture and cutting costs.

When used following tall crops, cutting residues at right angles aligns them in the longitudinal direction with the following minimum TillDisc cutting discs. The seed placement is said to be increasing as the coulters are not affected by residues.

In maize stubble, shredding and incorporating the residue can promote good field hygiene. It also saves a run with an additional mulcher or cultivator.

The maintenance-free knife roller is said to be robust. Bearing mounts and knives are made from Boron steel to ensure long service life. The knife fixings are recessed into the roller and the central core is resilient to stones and dirt. Additionally, the blades are sharpened on both sides and reversible to halve the wear costs.
