New generation seeding technology and options from Väderstad

The Väderstad stand at Agritechnica will include a new generation row unit for its Tempo and Proceed machines, which the company states will build on its reputation for high-speed planting. Said to be built from the ground up, the new units offer various improvements over the previous generation.

These include the ability to adjust planting depth based on prescription maps, with a new electronic architecture that enables the closing wheel pressure to be adjusted from the cab. The row unit has also undergone a full redesign, with tightened seed disc angles to create a narrower seed furrow, which the company believes will improve seed placement even at high speeds.

Day-to-day maintenance and upkeep have also been improved, with easier seed tube changes, a quick changeover between different crops and upgraded seed meters, which can be opened with just one hand.

The full Tempo and Proceed portfolio will receive the new row unit when it goes into full production next June.

    New Spirit and Inspire drills

A new generation of Spirit and Inspire drills will also be on the stand, both featuring the new TriForce II seed coulter with a patented suspension system that allows each row to independently follow ground contours.

Unique to this system is its triangular beam, which essentially gives a low- and high-gear to the suspension. By doing this, the coulter can follow a greater variation in terrain while maintaining the correct seed depth at all times. The TriForce II can also provide downforces of up to 120kg, 40kg more than the previous generation of coulter. Hydraulic depth control is available as an option.

Options for Carrier XT and XL models

For those looking for a more intensive, mechanical solution for weed infestations, the Carrier XT and Carrier XL range from Väderstad can now be specified with a third row of discs, available as a front tool option.

This increases the intensity of operations, reducing the disc spacing to just 8.3cm, resulting in 50% more metal in the ground at any one time. It uses the standard Carrier disc arms, and can be fitted with either the CrossCutter Disc, CrossCutter Disc Aggressive, 450mm disc or 470 TrueCut discs, meaning that the performance of the machine can be adapted to the conditions.

Väderstad will exhibit in Hall 12, Stand C58
