The latest edition to the McCormick X8 range takes it up to 340hp, produced by an FPT engine, which is mounted on rubber blocks to isolate noise and vibration. Torque levels are 1,398Nm, available at 1,400rpm. Power is put to the ground through a ZF continuously variable gearbox, providing top speeds of up to 50kph.
Up to six electronic spool valves can be fitted, fed by a closed-centre, load-sensing pump that produces 212 litres/min. An independent auxiliary pump is also fitted, providing 115 litres/min. The rear linkage can lift up to 12,000kg, with the front linkage capable of lifting up to 5,000kg.
The front axle can pivot and is fitted with an electronically controlled hydraulic suspension system, with electrohydraulic activation of the four-wheel drive and differential. As well as this, a semi-active cab suspension system has been integrated, with control of the sensitivity available through the in-cab terminal.
Options for the machine include the EazyGrip central tyre inflation system, which is Isobus-controlled and adjustable through the terminal. A new centralised greasing system is also available, which can hold up to six months of lubricant, which is proportionally applied.
In the cabin, the 12in Data Screen Manager terminal is complemented by a 12in digital dashboard display (Data Screen Manager Plus). Both have can be adjusted to display the correct functions and machine data as required.
These work in conjunction with the armrest, with configurable controls on the EasyPilot joystick. The new Clever Cab is said to have an additional 14% glazed area and 14% more internal volume, with an internal noise level of just 67dB.
The tractor links to the McCormick Fleet Management system ,which wirelessly transfers machine data and fleet positioning to the farm, and enables remote diagnostics as well as integration into the wider Argo Farm Management System.
