Set to make its debut at the Biogas Trade Fair in Nuremberg from the 7th to the 9th of December, Vogelsang will introduce a new press screw separator. The XSplit is said to be easy to maintain and enable a dry matter content of up to 40% to be processed.

“It’s becoming increasingly important to our customers to fully exploit digestate and liquid manure in the best and most efficient ways – whether as fertiliser for plant cultivation, as bedding, for soil improvement or for power generation in biogas plants. The separation technology rounds out our portfolio for even more efficient management of digestate and liquid manure,” said Harald Vogelsang, managing director Vogelsang GmbH & Co. KG.

The drive arrangement of the XSplit is mounted at the solids outlet and not, as with competitive machines, at the inflow of raw material. This means that liquid cannot get into the drive, eliminating the need for a shaft seal and reducing maintenance costs. The company’s QuickService concept also enables direct access to the press screw.

An elastomer sealing disc works in the separation area against the press screw to form a plug without any additional features and, reportedly, with almost zero leakage. The pressing area can be adjusted quickly, with individual control of the dry substance up to 40% dry matter. This means that the machine can meet a wide range of demands within the liquid manure and digestate processing markets.
