New Holland Methane Power LNG prototype awarded

A prototype for the New Holland T7 Methane Power LNG (liquified natural gas) has been announced as the winner of the Green Good Design Award.

The award is bestowed by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and emphasises sustainable design.

This is the 15th year the awards have been running, judged by a jury of design professionals and industry specialists. It receives hundreds of submissions from around the world, with projects from 32 countries awarded in the 2023 ceremony.

    T7 Methane Power

The T7 Methane Power LNG was presented for the first time at the CNH Industrial Tech Day in December 2022 and is the world’s first LNG tractor. According to the company, using LNG will more than double the autonomy when compared to its existing methane fuelled products.

It features a new ‘Clean Blue’ colour scheme, with an updated design which includes a reimagined bonnet. Lighting has also been reconsidered, with an illuminated bonnet, C-pillar leaves and an LED running strip around the cabin.

The cab includes a full-length skydome roof, while operation is via the SideWinder Ultra armrest, the new IntelliView 12 touchscreen and the CentreView steering wheel-mounted display.

Carlo Lambro, brand president of New Holland Agriculture said: “We are honoured to receive this Green Good Design Award, an authority in the design sector, and even more proud that the recognition is given to such a ground-breaking prototype tractor set to represent a significant expansion in New Holland’s alternative energy tractor range.

“The New Holland T7 Methane Power LNG marries great design with great tech and innovation, the result of the continued investment of our energies in creating something that is not only useful, sustainable and functional but also beautiful to see. I want to thank all the teams who worked on this special project and, as always, our internal design teams for the great creative job.”
